Top Channels On YouTube for Progressives (No Neoliberals)
The progressive movement is growing and it needs you to grow faster. But while we have the movement growing, the initial flag bearers like The Young Turks and Majority Report have become the mouthpiece of neoliberalism and most of them have gone behind clickbaity news than actual brave journalism, asking tough questions to establishment. A good movement needs flag-bearers and YouTube is one platform where you can find quite a few. Also, there is a fine line differentiating true progressives and neo-liberals.
Here are the YouTube channels you can watch knowing that they have not been corrupted by the fear of Russia or an orange orangutan:
1. The Jimmy Dore Show:
By far the bravest, funniest and honest progressive in decades. He yells, abuses and more often than not, gets too emotionally involved in dissing his detractors. But damn, I haven’t found a more sincere, intelligent and principled human being without fear on YouTube. Don’t trust me. Just watch.
2. Secular Talk:
Kyle Kulinski is perhaps the wittiest one. He has a great sense of humour and a beautiful ability to critique the establishment without shouting or abusing (unlike Jimmy Dore). His analysis is best done when he looks at relegious dogma, and when he highlights the hypocrisy and dangerous impact of neoliberals.
3. TYT Politics
The only channel remaining in the TYT network that is not a DNC mouthpiece. The best days of this channel was when it was led by Jordan in the 2016 elections. The fearless journalist Jordan Chariton was setting an example for his more experienced peers. It was inspiring to watch him and his team take a mic, a camera and ask questions. Journalism in the way it was meant to be. This channel will die a slow death now that Jordan and Emma both have moved on.
4. The Political Vigilante
We have an affection for good-hearted and honest vigilantes, don’t we? Comedian/Filmmaker Graham Elwood is one such. He is out to expose the hypocrisy, social bankruptcy of the corporate democrats and the crazy right.
What I love about his approach is his genuine intent to dig deep into one topic and share views driven by research. Top quality content that deserves lot more love and shares.
5. The Humanist Report
Hosted by Mike Figueredo, The Humanist Report is a podcast covering political stories and issues with humanism at the center. In their own words : “not to appear neutral, but to remain objective”. Are you listening CNN, MSNBC?
6. Convo Couch
Led by Craig ‘Pasta’ Jardula and Fiorella Isabel, this channel is a breath of fresh air. Their format is unique as they have two people sitting on a couch and honestly and clearly putting their points forward. They disagree, argue fearlessly even amongst themselves and we love them for that. Their producer Jonny Tsunami is one of the bravest as he finds his way into protests with a camera in hand, broadcasting LIVE.
